Week 4 Definitions and Examples

Contrast (noun, verb)-(n) a difference, esp. a striking difference, between things being compared
(v) to compare so as to point out the differences; set off against one another
Critique (noun, verb)-(n) a critical analysis or evaluation of a subject, situation, literary work, etc
(v) To review or discuss critically.

Persuade (verb)-To induce to undertake a course of action or embrace a point of view by means of argument, reasoning, or entreaty

EXAMPLES
Contrast: My new school was a good contrast to my previous one.
Critique: The movie critique I read had such positive comments, I was convinced to go see the movie that night.
Persuade: It is my goal to persuade all my students to quit smoking since it is bad for their health.
